This year the UA Dance Ensemble celebrates 10 years of performing in the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre. Blessed by the completion of this theatre in 2003, wave after wave of dance majors rehearse and perform in this award winning, state-of-the-art facility. The 29,000 square foot complex, which houses a 300-seat theatre with spacious stage, is host to some 40 to 50 performances a year by UA Dance.
Lead architects on the project, Donna Barry and Jose Pombo created more than a decade ago a design so innovative that several awards recognized their work. Two AIA awards and a Best Public Project over $5M award led ultimately to the building being added as one of only fifteen on the list of “Arizona’s Greatest Architectural Wonders.”
The Stevie Eller Dance Theatre is but one of the “discoveries” you will make if you join us for the year. Another discovery will be a dance ensemble that is uniquely positioned to take you on an amazing journey. Powered by 140 dancers, all trained in ballet, modern and jazz, our Discovery Series II will reach back to the past, reveal the present, and with you as our audience take part in discovering the future.
