The University of Arizona School of Dance is thrilled to announce the addition of Sarah Lisette Chiesa to our esteemed faculty. Sarah is an interdisciplinary performance artist with a rich background in dance, choreography, and collaboration. Hailing from upstate New York, Sarah has cultivated her artistic career through extensive experiences in the United States, Europe, Mexico, and Venezuela.
Sarah’s journey began at the renowned North Carolina School of the Arts for High School, and she went on to earn her BFA from SUNY Purchase College in 2004. Her passion for choreography led her to pursue a Postgraduate degree from the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in 2014, and she recently completed her MFA at the University of Washington in 2020.
As a performer, Sarah’s talent shines through her collaborations with prestigious companies and artists. She was a full-time company member with Shen Wei Dance Arts for several years and remains an exceptional guest artist with the group. Sarah has graced the stage in diverse works by renowned choreographers such as Sidra Bell, Susan Marshall, Tania-Perez Salas, and many more. Her artistry extends beyond dance, as she has also collaborated in various mediums, including films, digital media, photography exhibits, and music festivals.
In addition to her impressive artistic career, Sarah is an experienced educator, and we are delighted to welcome her expertise to our program. She has taught at esteemed institutions around the world, including Aterballetto, Balletto Toscana, and CIMD Milano in Italy, as well as the Shoonya Center for Somatic Arts and School of Performing Arts in Bangalore, India. Sarah has also shared her knowledge and passion for dance at renowned institutions like the University of California Santa Barbara, the University of Washington, and Velocity Dance Center.
With her diverse background, extensive performance career, and dedication to education, Sarah Lisette Chiesa brings a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to the University of Arizona School of Dance. We are excited to have her join our faculty and look forward to the unique perspectives and experiences she will bring to our students.
