The University of Arizona School of Dance recently welcomed the award–winning arts educator
and choreographer, Fredrick Earl Mosley. Mosley, the founder and artistic director of Earl
Mosley’s Diversity of Dance, has an extensive background in dance, having performed with
prestigious companies such as Ailey II, Gus Solomon Dance, and Ronald K. Brown’s Evidence. He
has also received numerous commissions for his choreography from the Alvin Ailey American
Dance Theater, American Ballet Theater Studio Company, and other national and international
arts institutions.
Mosley spent several days at the University of Arizona teaching a series of dance classes to
students and was met with excitement and passion from the university’s dancers. In a
statement, Mosley expressed his enjoyment of working with the students, saying “My time with
the U of A dancers was nothing less than full out with feeling! Such passionate, technical, and
versatile inspiring artists!”
This visit by Mosley is just one of many examples of the University of Arizona School of Dance’s
commitment to providing students with the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by
leading dance professionals. Mosley’s contributions to the dance community, including
numerous awards and recognition, make him a valuable resource to the school and its
students. It is clear that Mosley’s time at the University of Arizona was a joyous experience for
all involved.
