In 2003, the University of Arizona’s School of Dance inaugurated the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre, a 29,000-square-foot complex that houses the UArizona Dance Ensemble. This impressive venue boasts a 300-seat theater with a spacious stage, full-fly system, and orchestra pit, hosting nearly 40 annual performances and events. Inside the theater’s inviting space, a vibrant suspended sculpture by artists Joyce Crain and Carl Philabaum captures the essence of dance and movement. Designed by Gould Evans, the theater has earned accolades, including a 2003 Citation Award from the American Institute of Architects and recognition as the Best Public Project over $5M. As we mark the 20th Anniversary of the Stevie Eller Dance Theatre, we invite you to watch this short video highlighting its vibrant past and exciting future.
