Dance Resources Center
The Dance Resources Center (DRC) is the School of Dance’s library space, located in Room 8, downstairs in the Ina Gittings Building.
The DRC houses a collection of books, archives, and audio-visual materials dedicated to dance and related topics. The book collection includes approximately 1000 volumes on topics including movement techniques, dance history, and biographies of notable figures. Complementing the titles held by the university library system, the DRC’s collection is cataloged and searchable by title, author, and subject. Archival collections document various aspects of the School of Dance’s history, along with other dance subjects. The DVD collection includes UA Dance performances dating back to 1991, as well as performances by and documentaries on other dancers and companies.
DVDs may be viewed in the Dance Resources Center, and archival collections may be viewed by appointment. There are also back issues of several periodicals, including Dance Magazine, Ballet Review, Dance Perspectives, Dance Research Journal, and several rare volumes of Impulse Annual of Contemporary Dance.
