The University of Arizona School of Dance is excited to announce the addition of three dynamic and highly accomplished professionals to its faculty: Tyce Diorio, Ruben Dorame, and Gianni Howell. Each brings a unique background and expertise, promising to enrich the educational experience for all students and elevate the School’s national profile.
Tyce Diorio, an Emmy Award-winning choreographer, is known for his influential work on *So You Think You Can Dance*, as well as his choreography for major music tours, including Taylor Swift’s *RED*, *1989*, *Reputation*, and *Lover* world tours. With a career spanning Broadway, television, and music, Diorio’s addition to the faculty provides students with unparalleled access to one of the industry’s most respected figures. His extensive experience and creative vision will greatly enhance the dance programs, offering students insights into the professional world of dance and choreography. Tyce will spend the first seven weeks with us as a guest artist, and he will also set a work on the students for Fall for Dance.
Joining the faculty as a street dance artist and educator, Ruben Dorame brings over 23 years of experience in hip hop, house, popping, locking, and breaking. As the creator of The Drop Dance Studio and leader of The Drop Fam, the USA Hip Hop International Megacrew Champions in 2015 and 2017, Dorame’s expertise in street dance will introduce students to the vibrant culture and techniques of this genre. His contributions are set to expand the School’s curriculum, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of street dance styles and their significance in today’s dance landscape. After Tyce’s tenure, Ruben will join for the final seven weeks of the semester lending his expertise to the students.
Gianni Howell, a proud alumnus of the University of Arizona and the School of Dance, continues his journey with the school as an Assistant Professor of Practice. Howell is passionate about guiding students through their academic and professional journeys, building on the strong foundation he laid as a visiting faculty member. His role will also involve contributing to the School’s marketing and outreach efforts, helping to grow its presence both within the Tucson community and nationally. Howell’s commitment to his alma mater and his deep connection to the School’s mission make him a valuable asset to the faculty.
The addition of Tyce Diorio, Ruben Dorame, and Gianni Howell marks an exciting new chapter for the University of Arizona School of Dance. Their combined expertise across diverse dance disciplines ensures that students will receive a well-rounded, cutting-edge education, preparing them for success in the ever-evolving world of dance. The School of Dance looks forward to the innovative perspectives and experiences these three faculty members will bring to the program.
