About Spring Collection

April 21 - 30, 2017
As “the closer” of the UA Dance Season, Spring Collection always offers something special. It is the confluence of dancers performing at the top of their game, and faculty and guest choreographers showcasing some of their best work.

James Clouser will revive his internationally acclaimed duet Ear to Stone, a study in domesticity danced to the poetry of John Giorno and Giacomo Puccini. From Puccini we move to Prince and a medley of his tunes in Michael Williams’ The Artist: Celebrating PRINCE.  Billy Joel’s music is there as well.  His melancholy ballad from 1990, "And So It Goes," sung by Sara Gazarek, provides the musical inspiration for Amy Ernst’s contemplative dance for solo performer.

The “Collection” goes on, including a piece for men by Elizabeth George; a piece for women by Tammy Dyke Compton; a new work by Sam Watson; and a processional to Afro-funk created by Barbea Williams.
