Arizona Jazz Dance Showcase 2013 Dates:
October 4, 5, 6 2013
The Arizona Jazz Dance Showcase (AJDS) is a dance festival of national/international scope, hosted annually by The University of Arizona School of Dance. Designed for intermediate/advanced dancers, AJDS includes performances, a variety of dance classes, scholarship auditions for summer programs as well as an audition opportunity for the UA School of Dance for interested high school seniors. Each year renowned guest artists, such as Gus Giordano, Joe Tremaine, Sherry Zunker, Joe Lantieri, Mia Michaels and Ann Reinking adjudicate and teach at the Showcase giving students an opportunity to work with a variety of jazz dance masters. In 2011, the Showcase hosted over 1000 dancers and instructors from more than 30 states and several countries.
Students who attend AJDS are able to get a feel for the UA campus, meet UA Dance faculty, share the joy of dance with others from all over the U.S. and learn from nationally recognized professionals in the field. AJDS is one of several outreach/education events UA School of Dance offers to the dance community each year. In addition, high school seniors who attend AJDS have the opportunity to audition for admission into the School of Dance.
